I have tuned the PI controller for the voltage control loop and inner control loop. But the problem is that it is not stable from a wide variation in the load/bus voltage. On the DC bus, there is a boost converter connected which is used to transfer power from renewable generation.
While Tuning considering rated load (separate/isolated) the operation is good. But on connecting it with DC Bus (microgrid) it is not working properly.
This is a common problem of PI controllers that it works fine only around a selected range of operating condition (operating point). The solution is to use gain schedule based on one or more states of your system. The kp and ki gains can be varied linearly of based on a scheduling function. Avoid using gain steps instead link the change with a function that produce the suitable gains smoothly.
at first, you should look over the performance of MPPT, and then there are many types of algorithms to controlling this type of tuning problem like the Taguchi method, fractional open circuit method etc.
