In Iraq, we face a major problem that threatens water resources. the problem is growth of water plants that affect the quantity and quality of water from the most dangerous plant called "Ceratophyllum demersum".
Anyone who has an idea about treating this plant either mechanically or biologically or using pesticides may help us because we have tried a lot but are not effective.
These plants reach the water treatment plants and disrupt their work for several days, as well as blocking the irrigation channels and impede the arrival of water in addition to changing the taste of water and many other problems.

The problem is that these plants are rapidly spreading and currently mechanically processed and when it cut also reach water purification plants and cost of this work hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
Required is the economic and effective treatment

When I saw that picture I directly thought about blocking sunlight by spreading long dark plastic sheet on the water surface.
blocking sunlight for a week or so will kills the plants and then mechanically remove it. it can be made on area by area using the same sheet.
