How to synthesize Chloroauric acid?

Just what the question says. I know conceptually that you dissolve pure gold metal in HCl but I'm trying to find a more rigorous procedure so that I can know what stoichiometry to use and how to isolate it. Also, is chloroauric acid ambient stable?
