Dear all,
I am simulating linear elastic behaviour of sheet pile wall using ABAQUS. i dont understand why my sheet pile wall is deflecting towards soil and it is penetrating the soil in bottom boundary even though i kept increasing depth of soil upto 5 times of wall height. even i tried to change the property also same result.
soil property(medium sand): density = 17000 N/m3 E= 3.5e7 Kpa,
poisson's ratio = 0.35
concrete sheet pile: Density 2400 kg/m3, E=.24e11 N/m2,
poisson's ratio = 0.17
Please help me figureout what might be the reason.

@Taku Muni, seems your analysis including the self weight of soil and water together. If yes, try using staged analysis.
Witold Bogusz thank u for the response. i have used E =3.5e7 N/m2 for soil and E=2.4e10 N/m2 for concrete. concrete is larger by 10^3. and for contact i have used surface to surface contact between wall an soil with tangential and normal behaviour. actually i am in initial stage of my work so started with linear elastic. slowly i will move into nonlinear model. I am still confused what mistake iam doing.
Taku Muni, I come across the similar issue when pile and soil are modelled together and carried out analysis for self weight.
As the Sheet pile is stiffer than surrounding soil, Soil deforms/settle more than sheet pile. This cause unexpected results. Reduce the contact friction coefficient and verify the results. For better results, you can use staged analysis with initial stress state condition.
