Are you sure it is set up properly and that that combination is supported? It is VERY picky.  Here's a link to the support page (http://media.3ds.com/support/progdir/all/?pdir=simulia,abaqus613,ga) and I'm just attaching a PDF of that page for convenience.  In my experience the latest fortran compiler is usually supported, but the issue is almost always with the VS installation.  Students can get the latest fortran compiler for free (https://software.intel.com/en-us/qualify-for-free-software/student).  However the support page says they tested it with VS 2010 not VS 2012.  So maybe that is the issue.

You definitely have a problem with your setup. This means that the compiler cannot find the include files it wants, so it cannot compile the subroutine.

to Check the success of the compilation process open command prompt and write

abaqus verify –all

When you see the part of

Abaqus………..with user subroutines

PASS

Then your adding is successful and you can write your subroutines

If it concerns a VUMAT, check the xpl_user_dp.log file in verifyOLD folder usually located in the root of C partition.

Sir, Sorry for the late response. after running the FORTRAN code in visual studio, the error is "error#5102: can not open include file 'ABA_PARAM.INC'". I have attached the FORTRAN file and error list screenshot. Kindly have a look.

When I tried Removing INCLUDE 'ABA_PARAM.INC' and replacing it with implicit" real*8(a-h,o-z) and parameter (nprecd=2)" the error "error#5102: can not open include file 'ABA_PARAM.INC'" is gone but I am getting two new errors

" error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol XIT referenced in function UMAT" File: UMAT.obj

and

error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol MAIN__ referenced in function main File: libifcoremdd.lib(for_main.obj)

Ravindra singh Chahar As far as I can tell, it would be very hard for you to compile this way. You will need to provide correct path for the include files (.INC) and also link with correct libraries (.LIB) (which is the cause for the first error), as well as telling the compiler that it should create an intermediate file (.OBJ), and not a final executable (.EXE), hence the last error. Try doing it the correct way (as was in the video) and let us know what errors you get, so we can help.

Dear Sir, I have followed the video and getting pass message for product verification of subroutine. I have two include files in "C:\SIMULIA\CAE\2016\win_b64\SMA\site" directory named as 'aba_param_dp' and 'aba_param_sp' but not 'ABA_PARAM '. I have added the path of this directory to Visual studio ( 'Solution Explorer>Properties page>Fortran>General>'Additional Include Directories'). but same error because no 'ABA_PARAM ' in the "site". I am getting frustrated. Kindly help.

Ravindra singh Chahar I still recommend you follow the standard procedure (i.e. letting Abaqus do the compilation for you) with the recent changes, and let me know about the errors (if any) in the Abaqus logs.

Ravindra singh Chahar why you want to compile with visual studio? You just run your code in Abaqus directly (After linking the abaqus with fortran of course). And verify if you had correctly done it by runnig 'correct' subroutine (take it from abaqus documentations) to avoid errors in your own code. Once you are sure that you had corretly done the link between abaqus and Fortran, then if you have errors then you are sure it's due to your code.
