i have a little experience in star ccm+ modelisation.
So now i have to modelize Panning hull in star ccm, to determine the drag,pression and trim....
My problem is to design a good "mesh" so i can have results that can be good enough.
Here, i saw a lot of publications about that, but i can't find none explicite about how to chose a suitable high of cells....
Another question is the type of cells: What is the best between the polyhedral and the trimmed mesh? (i often use the Trimmed mesh).

Its a huge one. Check the help files. Its kind of FSI problem
Dont worry about cell type. If u use moving mesh then cell type is important.

I have some suggestion for you:
1- A trimmed mesh is better than polyhedral mesh in this case because the trimmed mesh can simulate better free surface.
2-You need wave/wake refinement mesh. For this," Marine Resistance Prediction: KCS Hull with a Rudder " can be helpful.
3-For correct force prediction, you need correct prism layer mesh. In the prism layer mesh total thickness and number of prism layer are important variables.

1- I understand clearly this one, beacuse i have read it meany times
2- i will look deep into it...because i also have read it somewhere, but i didn't know where to find it. Thank again
3-Here i have a question . How can i realise it? i mean..i know how to insert prism layer etc....But how may i know that the(number of prism, total thickness) are good enough?. I also read somewhere that i have to use the Y+...to evaluate it. But i really don't know this part..
If you can help me with that...

KCS model is in Tutorial Guide in motion you can see find that.
for validate a prism layer you can validation with empirical results or Y+ range or VOF scheme. for total thickness, use the bondary layer formolation is better.
