Hello,

I have been reading a lot about moisture sorption in plasticized starch films. One question I had is how to report water content based on the literature. Literature such as Talja, et al (doi:10.1016/j.carbpol.2006.05.019 ) presents water content as g water/100g solids

Does this "solids" include the mass of the plasticizer (they compare moisture sorption for different plasticizer contents) or just the amount of starch in the dry film. Need to better understand in terms of the overall water content, because if two films with different amounts of plasticizer had 10gwater/100gsolids, the overall % water would be different if the plasticizer was included or not in the "solids". Just trying to understand a bit better.
