PDLC Setup and Issue

Setup:

  • Structure: 7 top sheets (200mm x 800mm) stacked with 0.06mm gaps, separated by 0.02mm PDLC dielectric material, and a single bottom sheet as a reference.
  • Electrical: 7 Top sheets receive individual 55V AC signal (60Hz) to become active ( To make glass clear view ) and bottom sheet is common ground for all.

Issue:

  • Suppose, when a middle sheet is powered, nearby sheets unintentionally clear up slightly due to electrical interference or leakage. ( Floating effect)

How to reduce the Floating effect? Common ground sheet cannot be separated into multiple.

Also, how to validate this through Simulation ( HFSS, Q3d or Maxwell)?

Practical Impedance ( Zmod, Phase ) can be found for each sheet with respect to ground through impedance analyzer. Tried to create the same setup in HFSS and match impedance with measurement reading but failed.
