I was working on Tex studio editor on my laptop. Suddenly my laptop got a problem and restarted automatically. Then I reopened the .tex file but my entire work was lost. It was total blank. I tried to compile and run that blank file which might have corrupted the output .pdf file. I tried several methods like restoring the previous version but didn't work.
Anybody please help me to recover the files?
In such cases you have the following oportunities:
- Your used editor (you didn't tell the name) creates a backup file, for example mwe.bak or mwe.tex.bak. If the mwe.tex is corrupted, rename the backup file and continue working with this version. The changes you made since the start of the editor, will be lost. (Conclusion: Use an editor with that functionality!)
- Your used editor had not created an backup file, but you have a second (mobile) hard disk drive or an USB stick containing the latest version of your work, for example the complete directory. Then you can use this backup and you have only lost the work of one day. (Conclusion: You should do this every day, and would be best practise if you have one separate disk drive or USB stick for each working day!)
- Your used editor had not created an backup file, but you have a daily backup of your system with any backup software. Recreate the missing file and go on. You have lost all the work done since the last system backup. (Conclusion: backup your system each day, for example in the evening after work. After backup the computer can do a shut down.)
- Your used editor had no backup file created and you have no program used for backup. Then you should stop working with the computer, do not start it and visit an computer expert. If you are lucky, he can restore the corrupted file. But that only works if you do not make any changes on the computer and can cost a lot of money! (Conclusion: avoid to get in that situation)

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. I used Tex studio. Unfortunately it didn't creat back up (although I realized later that there is backup facility in the settings).
However using the automatic back up created by quick heal antivirus (cfr backup), I did recover the pdf file but .tex file couldn't be recovered as quick heal doesn't backup the Tex files. In the end I have to re-type all my works.

In the worst case, you have to reinstall all the latex program with its Miktex, and maybe it will work for you.

@Sohail Ahmed I was not able to recover the .Tex file. However quick heal antivirus used to create back up files through which I recovered the output PDF file and retype the entire work again.
(PLEASE NOTE THAT QUICK HEAL ANTIVIRUS DOES NOT CREATE BACK OF TEX FILES)
