I have to form a ligand for making a gold complex. I conducted the reaction and obtained a yellow colored product. Now I want to purify the ligand and remove the residual contamination. Any suggestions on how to do so?

You can make a TLC to check how many products you have. From there, you can make a preparative TLC, a column chromatography or HPLC to separate your product. And confirm it by NMR.

You have reacted ethylene diamine with acetone in 1 : 2 ratio,
if your product is solid then you can collect it by filtration, otherwise
do column chromatography to purify the product.
Or triturate with some suitable solvent .
