I am planning to use plasmin to digest fibrinogen to yield fragment D. However, I only have access to plasminogen, so I need to activate it to produce active plasmin. While commercial t-PA and u-PA are available, they are quite expensive. Therefore, I am looking for alternative ways to purify plasminogen activators from scratch on a small scale.

Is there a simple method to purify t-PA, u-PA, or any other functional activator? I apologize if my question seems broad or ambiguous. Any suggestions and discussions would be helpful. Thank you.
