I'm currently working on a Proterozoic volcano-sedimentary belt and I have to deal with a complex volcanic sequence. In a section of the stratigraphic column I have Fe-Ti basalt, basaltic andesite to andesite with what looks like icelandite signatures, andesite-dacite and rhyolite. I am wondering if the icelandite might represent the mixing result of Fe-Ti basalt with felsic magma but how can I prove it using trace elements lithogeochemistry? I would like to add that I won't be able to use major elements as the rocks experienced syn-volcanic hydrothermal alteration.
Thank you very much,
Pierre-Arthur
