I'm using Psychtoolbox for Matlab for presenting visual stimuli. I need to change the visual stimuli according to a serial trigger received from another computer. The serial input is provided by the Signal (CED) software installed in the other PC. Since this study involves non invasive stimulation (TMS) of Brain, timing of visual stimulus is very important. I'm pretty new to Psychtoolbox and I have read about 'KbName' feature of the Psychtoolbox which receives key presses of the subject and changes the visual stimulus according to the key press. I'm looking for a similar kind of solution. If anyone had faced a similar situation in Psychtoolbox please help me out.

Mmm.... You can trigger direct from pc that you use to present stimuli. in this way you can trigger at the same time tms and ced.

I have written some software that sits on top of PsychToolbox, called ASF

This software can put the visual stimulation computer in charge of controlling other devices, such as TMS, or it can listen to other devices and deliver stimuli accordingly (e.g. in fMRI).
It would be helpful to understand your setup, i.e. which device is in charge and which device is the slave. From what you write it seems that the CED software is in charge and that your stimulus computer is the slave. This looks a bit unusual to me, I normally put my stimulus computer in charge and stimulation devices such as TMS are the slaves. For fMRI it is the other way round.

And I can confirm that ASF is easy to use for defining and controling experimental stimuli for vision experiments.
