I have to take TEM analysis of my composite which is of 3 mm thickness. Since for my material microtome is not available i want to make it into powder for TEM analysis. How can i make it into powder form for effective analysis
well first of all, is your composite flexible or brittle?
for flexible composites, you can try liquid nitrogen, just soak it in liquid nitrogen and then grind using high shear grinders, if they are brittle, you can use ball mill to make a powder.
If your composite is a ceramic disc, then take a piece and grind it down to a thickness of 50 microns using ordinary grinding machine and sand papers, then use ion beam thinner to get areas which are electron transparent and you are good for TEM analysis.
I hope it helps, though the question is incomplete.
