I need to plot efficiency map of a motor which was designed using electromagnetic FEA. Literature available in internet are not sufficient and complete. So Please suggest me some reliable sources which guide me in plotting efficiency maps of motors.
try (ansys maxwell) aka fea software for electromagnetic simulation lots of tutorial video are available at you-tube or ansys official website.
Or, if you do not have a licence for Maxwell, derive equivalent circuit parameters (rotor parameters dependent on speed) from your FEA. Then it is easy to get anything you want.
If you have conventional designs, ANSYS has electric machine design tool kit. All you need to give is your rated input rms current, voltage and type of control you want to perform (MTPA, torque ripple minimization etc). You can run the design in motor or generator modes or both.
The software can run by itself from there and give you good torque-speed curve data and the tool kit has efficiency map displayer which can import the date generated after the simulation is completed.
