I want to calculate the root diameter (RD) of a specific root zone in barley with WinRHIZO software. Software provides data on average if I select root zone. After reading about RD calculations in WinRHIZO, I can see that there will be pitfalls in RD calculations through WinRHIZO because RD is not uniform along its length. Does anyone have any idea how software calculates averages and how to minimize the error chances in data collection in this case?
