I am focus on the seal-healing materials. I need to generate microcracks on the surface of polymer materials. Which method can be used to fabricate microcracks? I hope the width of microcracks can be constrained to between 100-500 nm.
You may try absorption by the polymer of solvent vapours. Crazing should be observed if the polymer is vitreous, i.e. at a temperature below Tg. If not enough, repeat absorption - drying cycles, and for sure you'll finally get a cracked surface.
Thanks. I used the crosslinked polymer. the adsorption and drying method would be helpful. At the same time, i wonder if any methods can be used to create the regular microcrack?
