I am reaching out to this community for some help with my STM-break junction setup. Currently, I am experiencing 50Hz noise (sinusoidal shape) when the tip and the substrate are barely in contact. I have a big aluminum shield and I am using BNC cables for shielding, but the noise persists. I am using a Femto current to tension amplifier with a series resistor to limit the current.
I was wondering if anyone could help me troubleshoot this issue? Specifically, I am curious if this noise could be due to the amplifier, the amplifier power supply being connected to AC, or if it could be caused by ground loops.
Do you think it can be caused by electromagnetic noise (like radiation) ?
Thank you in advance for your time and help.
