Mass scaling

Increase element size (nodal time step largerly depends on this)

Try changing formulation

Try to reduce contact slave nodes as required, instead of selecting all Workpiece nodes.

You can check mass scaling minimum time increment option under Step module...

Gokhan Altintas It is showing the warning that, "this section type not supported for mass scaling". Also the minimum time increment was not applied.

Don't select the rigid body for mass scaling, only the deformable.

You should not use mass scaling option while simulating the FSW process because it significantly affects the accuracy of the results.

Hey everyone! Martin Baeker I was wondering if there is a boundary condition which could compensate for the rigid boundary condition to the tool. I have given the model files as well if one can help me in any other way. Amir Ghiasvand if you could tell me how i can make this model with higher time increment without mass scaling. I am using Intel i5, 8gb ram processor.

The CEL method is a good and practical method for simulating the FSW process, but it should be noted that the run time will be very high. If you want to investigate the thermal aspects of the FSW process, such as temperature distribution, it may be helpful to use a heat transfer step with a DFLUX subroutine. But suppose you intend to perform a stress analysis or study the effects of tool shape, tool and workpiece interaction, material flow, weld zone shape, etc., on thermal and mechanical conditions. In this case, you need to implement the CEL method with a supercomputer to model the steps of plunging, welding, and retracting.
