In the application of foliar fertilizer on C4 plants, nitrogen is not fully used, as its absorption and other micronutrients do not happen. How to increase this absorption by putting something together with the fertilizer?
Mind that the synergic actions of all nutrients and bio-stimulants that is much more efficient. The most important thing though is clean water coming from the rain or the inverse osmosis (if it is drinking water mind to avoid carbonates and bicarbonates that normally bind the nutrients).
Combine mineral nutrients in organic form (ex. Nitrogen in aminoacids but also potassium) and magnesium sulfate and micronutrients all the time especially Fe and Mo. Calcium is better to be given to the roots as well phosphorus in more bioavailable form bind with humic acids as well.
Then integrate always some humic substances (humic and fulvic acids with humines extracted mechanically) and do not forget the algae.
If your budget is higher you may wish to integrate some bacteria and then your mix is complete.
Put the water first in the tank up to 80% and then mix the products in the above order in your tanks and do the application with at least 300 lt/ha.
The best moment is with the first light in the morning when expected a sunny day and the leaf temperature is never higher than 26°C.
Basically, it depends upon the nature of nutrients that the specific plant draws from its substrate (soil). Therefore, the leaf absorption of nitrogen depends upon the nature of leaf surface and more importantly, the stomatal openings. I am not aware of any other way of leaf absorption. You may please enlighten through your research. All the best.
