After the results of High School(10) and Intermediate(10+2) are out, I feel so proud to see the perfection in the results. First of all I would like to congratulate all the students who have secured 10 CGPA and respectable marks making their parents proud. I would like to congratulate everyone who passed with flying colours. But when I sit back feeling proud about the increasing competition and everyone securing high marks, a thought strikes me and makes me feel concerned. The quality of board results has been constantly increasing since the past years. This is a great achievement and a matter of appreciation. But the concern is that the quality of the students we get to teach at University for undergraduate has been degrading constantly since the past years. The first batch that I got to teach was the most brilliant bunch of students that I have taught in my teaching career. That brilliance and quality has deteriorated every year and that deterioration has been constant. Now when the quality of results in 10 and 10+2 is increasing and becoming a better every year, why is the quality of students taking admission for undergraduate degrading? Every year, I come through students who have less knowledge than previous batch and the academic content they possess decreases every year. So, where is the loophole? It's high time that we revise our education system. Being a social scientist it is our duty to give this topic a thought. We must ponder upon that in order to award percentages and improve the results are we just promoting superficial knowledge. It is high time that we start giving importance to quality rather than quantity. We must work upon creating great personalities rather than increasing the number of toppers. We must work upon making the children and the coming future of our country knowledgeable rather than tagging them as toppers. We need to evaluate ourselves how to control blind system and how to develop and improve the contemporary immune system along with the great virtues. And with this message I want to draw attention of all the teachers at all the levels because our profession demands us to create great personalities not toppers.
