Argo data are a good choice globally and in some regions, they are the most extense data source globally speaking from 2006.

apart from the links in the others answers, you could look into ISAS if you want a good global gridded Argo product.

But depending on where and what time scales you're looking at Argo data could be sparse (mainly in certain regions or before 2006).

Satelite data are a good choice for SST, obvoiusly not for water column.
