We are using ibuttons – the hygrochron DS-1923 for a project to record temp and humidity. We have used them before many times no problem.

We are now experiencing problems trying to set them up (mission activate with parameters). Basically the OneWireViewer program is saying it requires a password for accessing the ibuttons and error message “error reading device! Com.dalsemi.onewire.adapter.onewireIOException: Copy scratchpad failed- invalid password.”

We have the same problem for all 6 DS1923 ibuttons. Additionally, a separate research group, who also previously used theirs in the same study site is having the same problem with their DS-1923 ibuttons (requiring password), even though they also previously used theirs. This is only a problem with all the hygrochron DS1923 ibuttons. We do not encounter a password request when setting up the thermochron ibuttons. Furthermore, our group has determined the batteries are still good, so battery drainage does not seem to be the problem /reason for the error/password request.

Does anyone have any advice/have encountered this problem and is there any solution? We never set a password, so I’m clueless how to proceed to fix them.
