I have (almost completely) converted a small organic compound having 4 Benzene rings and few small chains, to another important compound which is almost same except a side chain. The side chain detaches as an alcohol molecule. They both are water soluble. How can I find the purity of the second compound precisely (it is in 94-99% range)? The starting compound weight is 0.2 mg (0.0002 g)

If the functional groups are not directly conjugated to the aromatic ring (connected by at least a CH2/CH aliphatic bond, not -CC-triple bond, -CH=CH-, -NH-, -CO-), then you can assume the UV spectra/extinction coefficients are the same for both compounds(you can check HPLC online spectra to see). You can just use the peak area detected@ maxium ab wavelength (got from online spectra)to obtain the %purity.
In general, people use 260nm/254nm, plus the maxium ab wavelength (if you know)for %purity.
