Hi, I'm modeling an unconfined aquifer in Algerian arid region. So, precipitation is about 90 mm and ETP is about 2500 mm (28 times smaller). The soil is formed by limestone rocks and it's almost bare and totally exposed to solar radiation. limestones are fractured and permeable.
So, I want to know how could I compute recharge of aquifer in these conditions? Is there any software that helps to estimate it?

I am no expert in groundwater, but I have lived in an arid area and have been involved in a campaign to improve the health of the Darling River in Australia. In many arid areas the evaporation greatly exceeds rainfall. If rainfall is a steady process with only small amounts of rain in each event, there would probably be no recharge of aquifers. However, if rainfall is very irregular, and is concentrated in heavy rain events, then the amount of rain in those short rain periods can exceed short-term evaporation, and some of the water can reach the aquifers. I suggest that any formula for groundwater recharge must take into account the size of rainfall events. Smal rainfall event will result in no recharge.
