I am currently doing research on the effect of five different fertilizers on tomato plants as shown in the shared file. I have collected the data in triplicate and required to do statistical analysis using SPSS based on result and figure out if there any significant difference between the means of each fertilizers. May I know what test that I need to use?
Based on your data you can correlate variables, as well as apply ANOVA and t-test.
1. You can only determine if there are significant differences between your treatment means if you run post hoc analysis just after analyzing the variances (AnoVa). You may consider to use Analysis of Variance (AnoVa) since it is a replicated test/trial and your data are normally distributed. You may also consider to use other software like Minitab/STAR for your inferential Stat analysis/AnoVa. Do not to use SPSS since this software is good for descriptive stat or for social researches.
2. You can not use t-test since you have 5 treatments/fertilizers used. T-test is used only for comparing means of two treatments/samples.
It is important to know exactly what you want. In any case, however, a general linear model (GLM) using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and you can include correlation. I will suggest using SAS or Statistix10 statistical package.
Hello. Traditionally, the type of analysis of an experiment is defined prior to its installation, since the field design requires it.
With these data, I assume that the field design must have been in randomized blocks, therefore, you must perform an analysis of variance and then a test of means (Tukey, for example). Previously, the homogeneity of variances (Bartled test) and the normality of the data (Shapiro - Wilk or Kolmogorov tests) must be checked.
