Hi everyone,
I have some drug nanoparticles which I need to improve their stability. I was using C18-(PEG)12-NH2 (MW: 400) and I realised that its molecular weight is very low to make them stabilised. Now we also have MAL-PEG-Silane (MW: 5k), I am told that I can use both of them together but I don't know how to combine these two.
I know that maleimide can react with amine at 8.5 pH, but my solvent is water so it does not seem it is feasible to use a buffer. I also thought silane can also react with amine and there would be two pegs' orientations.
I also did not find any information in the literature to see how can I use them together.
Is there anyone that can help me with this please?

I could not get the question very clearly, because some details are missing. If you just want to stabilize the nanoparticle then why Maleimide group is needed?
Dear all, I join the colleage's previous contribution. More details are needed. In general, modification is done by one of the two main strategies :
- grafting: this needs special functional groups on both the substrate nanoparticles and the modifying reactant.
- sorption : this needs secondary and/or Ionic interactions, in addition to the nanoparticles surface topology and porosity. My Regards

If nanoparticle outer layer is made up of lipids then DSPE-PEG can be added during nanoparticle preparation.
