How to distinguish stretching and bending bonds in FTIR spectrum?

in order to interpret FTIR graph do we need prior knowledge about kind of stretching and bending bonds in a particular compound?

Actually above 1600 cm-1, stretching bands are observed(group frequency region), . however below 1600 stretching & bending vibrations are mixed together. You can see at the frequency table given in the std. book. By comparing the values , you can find out str. & bending vibration bands.
