Basically, trying to simulate your forming process before starting to actually excerise tests on your material would be a good idea to get a first glimpse of what is particularly happening. As you already started to let your material undergo certain tests, you should at least start to simulate its material behavior and the development of elongation and tension [...] now. Anyway, to get an impression of the correlation of structure and properties of your steel, using divergent forming parameters (temperature, speed of forming, true strain...) would be a good idea. Don't forget to quench after forming to freeze the current state of microstructure. Then, try to evaluate the microstructure by taking a closer look on the micrographs of your specimens. Maybe you can already see the effects of certain changes in the forming conditions? Secondly, take a closer look on the mechanical parameters saved by your forming device. There should be a correlation between the changing conditions and the force needed to form etc... It would be best to argument by developing flow curves for each condition you took a closer look on, if possible.

As always, please talk to your professor about the things you're planing to do in advance. And always try to remember that the specimen's microstructure will always determine its properties - not the other way around.

Stress and strain rate data extracted from the stress-strain curves in constant strain and the logarithm of the stress vs logarithm of the strain rate curve fitted with spline cubic.The slope this curve gives the value m and the efficiency and instability parameter by m is achieved.

Efficiency=2m/(m+1)

Instability=(d (m/(m+1))/d ln(strain rate))+m

Consider m values obtained from the logarithm of the stress- logarithmic of the strain rate curve, and obtain the corresponding value (m/m+1) and ln(m/m+1) from m values in Excel, now ln(m/m+1) vs Ln(strain rate) is draw in curve fitting(cubic spline fit) in matlab, Software Sigma plot to draw contour can be used. In this case, the three-axis data (Temperture, Ln strain rate, Efficiency/or instability) into the software Sigma plot And smoothing of the three degree polynomail and loess smoother and sampling proportion 1 procedures surface for you, Now with new plot and select Add Contour Contour plots can be traced to the aim

***Aim is obtained for Efficiency contour plot and Instability contour plot

I have two strain rates of 0.01 and 10 for temperatures 900 and 1200 and two stress values which gives me only two data points hence I have taken straight line as my curve and on taking the slopes I got two values of m. The value of m was obtained as 0.1027 and 0.2515.Then after substituting the values of m in the  equation(2m/m+1)two values of power dissipation were obtained they are 0.186 and 0.4019.

Sir can you provide me with any link or advice to solve the instability equation.

you should not taken stright line between ln stress vs ln strain rate but "The relationship between log (strain rate) and log (stress) can

be described by three order polynomium tting. Namely the relationship

between log (strain rate) and log (stress) can be described

as follows: log (stress) = a + b log˙ε + c(log˙ε)^2+ d(log˙ε)^3

and curve fitting with three order polynomail fitting between two your values

Dear Binsi, I suggest you can go through a very good book by YVRK Prasad titled "Hot Working Guide: A Compendium of Processing Maps". Usually you can create good processing maps by choosing a grid of samples to be deformed. 6x6 (36) samples are a good start. If you have enough material and access to the deformation test setup, you can increase the grid to 8x8 or even 10x10. This increases the number of data points but can help in getting better iso-contour lines in your deformation map.

   I went through your document. You have performed hot compression tests four samples. If you read my previous answer, I have mentioned that you need to perform the  test on many more sample at different strain rate and temperatures to get a complete hot processing map.

  In the equation of m there are three constants b,c and d.Its being mentioned that they are material parameters depending on temperatures.How to determine these values in order to determine the value of m.You have provided me an attachment of plotting,Sir did u make use of matlab for it and from the plotted curve can one determine the slop value from the curve??

2* 2 matrix experimental test is not enough to create a processing maps. If u have two points then u will end up in linear fit. Which is not the actual material properties.

You atleast require 4*4 or more . The higher the number of test much accurate is processing maps.
