If you have access to the materials spectral emission characteristics (or absorption, which is the same) you can just calculate the product of emissivity (which equals absorption) at a given wavelength with the black body spectrum for that temperature. This gives you the emission spectrum of your metal at a temperature, from which you can extract the maximum etc. Note that especially metals have high reflectivity, their emission/absorption is quite low.
