I am going to measure antiscalant in brine of a desalination plant. According to the information provided by supplier I have to determine the amount of carboxylic acid. where can I find the protocol?
Acid-base titration just titrate sample with sodium hydroxide solution.
To determine the concentration carboxylic acid dissolve it about 0.3 to 0.4g.in 250 ml of ethanol(96% and dilute it in a volumetric flask. Titrate aliquot of solution (25ml)against standard alkali aq. NaOH (0.1N )using phenolphthalein as an indicator just like acid base titration. Following relation will be useful for determination of the conc. of an acid.
1000 ml of 1N NaOH requires ......g.equivalent of acid for neutralization ,then
