I'm recovering citric acid by addition of calcium carbonate from a process as it's calcium salt. Would like to method to determine purity of calcium citrate product. The method I found uses nitric acid and mercury salts - I would like to avoid this if possible. Methinks CE-ICP-OES would be ideal but I would need to find a lab that can do this. Thoughts?

You can dissolve the salt and use either atomic emission spectroscopy for determination of Ca, or ion chromatography or some electrochemical methods, i.e. capillary zone electrophoresis, for determination of citrate. Calcium citrate may be hydrated salt, you may need to know number of water molecules in salt. You dont need coupled techniques, choose one available.
