I have two different shp file, one containing field boundaries other is a soil class. I want to choose stratified random sampling points (around 200 points) which will be representative of both fields and soil type. Can anybody suggest me how to do it in QGIS, please?
Proportional or Neyman allocation can be used
Proportional allocation: area can be used for proportional allocation but it won't work for field boundaries since not all have all the soil classes. Therefore, for field boundaries, allocate number of sample points based on number of soil classes it has. Further, allocate those points to each soil class as per the area.
One would have to try different allocation methods
I would use ArcMap (probably, zonal histogram/statistics and intersect tools) to extract all the details (number of fields, soil class and areas) in excel and then do allocation in excel. Sample points can be randomly added to the map.
Akshay Paygude got your point but that would be a time-consuming process to take data into excel, calculate and randomly create points...
Md Tawhid Hossain what you want is a tool that will automatically do the allocation. I'm not aware of quick easy way of doing this.
You can take intersection of the shapefiles and then try random points tool in QGIS. Number of points for each feature can be given using attribute field. Though, I have never used it.
