I am working on designing microstrip antenna. I know the calculation of length and width of patch. I am facing difficulty in designing the feedline as shown in the attached file. Can anybody help me to design the microstrip antenna as show in the attached file. Please share the design formulas.
There are 2 things to consider with the feed line:
1) feed line location will impact the input impedance of your antenna. You can use this formula to tune feed line location:
Zant/Z0 = cos²(pi.x/L)
where Zant is your desired input impedance, L the length of the patch, x the location of feed line (meaning the depth from the border) and Z0 is the obtained impedance when feeding from the border, which can be calculated using:
Z0=(L/W)².90e/(e-1)
where W is the width of the patch and e the relative dielectric constant of the material under the feed line.
2) feed line needs to match antenna input impedance. You can use the Wheeler formula to design feed line geometry as stated here:

But it is much more simple to use free software like txline, zcalc or pcb calculator to do it for you!

There are number of techniques to match the antenna to 50 Ohm end feed line. For example the Inset feed where the antenna is not fed at the edge of the patch but deep inset far from the edge. There is also feed with quarter wavelength transmission line. There is also coaxial or probe feed where one searches for the point of 50 ohm and connect the coaxial feed line directly to it. There are also other feeding techniques.

As Prof. Laurent discussed above, everyone is following the same method and technique. Feed line location, as x and y components has to be find out . Second important parameter matching impedance is also calculated keeping in mind that it should be matched with input impedance. Both feed line locations and matching impedance are interrelated. Sometimes, that does not match, so designer follows hit and trial method to get little bit change from manual calculation.
