Please help me. I am suffering from severe motion sickness. For temporary relief, I usually take antihistamines before any of my journeys. Please suggest some permanent measures for motion sickness.
Bad news I’m afraid. No cure. You can desensitise yourself by repeated exposure to the perturbing stimuli (see space sickness research for the NASA programmes) but like jet lag and the common cold, there are some other certainties in life other than death and taxis...
Perhaps i was unnecessarily pessimistic. While there exists no “cure” for motion sickness the pharmacopea is well understood. Lanyrinthine sedatives and antiemetics are well used both in the treatment of inner ear disorders and in motion induced passenger illness. Anecdotally, one third of sny population is readonably resistant to motion sickness, one third highly susceptable and one third moderately. Habituation while probably tough going at the outset is probably the preferable approach. Finally drivers are much less susceptible to travel sickness than their passengers.....
did you already see an ENT specialist? Are you 100% sure that it is motion sickness and not something else? Do you have other symptoms?
If it is a pure motion sickness, that can be very disturbing, did you ever hear or read about "poor binocularity". Probably you also suffer from headache once in a while and/or hypersensitivity to bright light. That are symptoms for it. A possible help are glasses with prism, but be careful: Some opticions tend to balance to 100% binocularity in several steps, you would have to start slowly first and than stay at one prism for a while. If you correct all there is the risk, that your eyes start to squint. But a mild prism leading to better visus is worth a try. Wish you good health and a little remedy of your motion sickness!
