Is there a way to create a filament of butvar-98 for 3d printing applications. The butvar-98 powder I have used was dissolved in ethanol. And after that the ethanol was evaporated to obtain sheets. Is there a way to create filaments from this.? The usual procedure is to roll the thermoplastic in between two water heated glass plates( as in the case of thermoplastics like polycaprolactone ). Is there an alternative way to do this?

melting point temperature of butvar-98(PVB)=125 C

Very interesting question! The keyword here is thermoplastic!
It could be done by extrusion or by spinning. Since the material is thermoplastic, it can be easily melted and reprocessed into a filament.

Thank you for your answer Andrey, I have tried the same but it seems that bubbles are getting introduced during the filament making process making the filament a bit uneven as far as diameter is concerned.
Any way around this?

Dear Anoop A Nair , bubbles are quite often a problem. Have you tried degassing in a vacuum chamber?

Yes i did . But the thing is that butvar polymerizes really fast and as the degassing processing is going on. Due to which its nearly impossible to remove all the bubbles it has
