I see visual contemporary art as a conversation or dialogue regarding issues pertinent to culture and society. In this example, it is regarding suicide, possibly that of male visual artists, eg. Mike Kelley or John Minton.

Perhaps images with this sort of content are scarce because authentically suicidal artists are only authentic when dead, and then they no longer produce art. Another consideration is that if a small percentage of art deals with this subject matter, a proportionately (??) small percentage of artists is personally involved with this subject matter, or if they are, they may choose not to trouble people by expressing uncomfortable emotions. A quick Google Image search turned up some interesting (and uncomfortable) images, shown in the following posts.

Your comment not to trouble people with uncomfortable emotions is one of the major reasons for this research. I am hoping to challenge the notion of individualism and cause the community collectively to discuss this issue.

Well, Christopher, you now have four followers for this question and a couple of responders. We'll see what unfolds!

I am currently residing in a small rural village in Tanzania, partly to learn how the traditional family/village/tribe structure presents a substantially smaller number of suicides, especially amongst males, than in my own culture in Australia.

Any contributions on this subject would be much appreciated.
