In grid-connected MMC with PV integration. The difference power should be regulated to give a reference value to the circulating currents. However, it seems to be very sensitive in unbalanced conditions. How to design its control to give the right reference value and keep the dc link unaffected with any ac component signal due to unbalance?!!

I would recommend using Fuzzy Logic Controller, it is useful for such kind of sensitive issue since it has the ability to change membership function shape for more accuracy. you can use the difference in powers as the first input and the dc-link voltage as the second one.

You can use any type of regulator but you have to avoid that regulators treat fluctuating quantities appearing during unbalances: especially dqo voltages and currents, DC bus voltage and powers.
