How to construct Electrochemical cell for evaluating corrosion resistance ?
i am going to work on corrosion resistance of MAX Phases or HEAi need your help in providing any material on Construction of Electrochemical Cell, or its electronic copy, or reference.i have read so many papers but no one is explaining from basic.i want to know how to findEo [mV], Ecorr [mV], Icorr [A/cm2 ], Rp ?thanks in advance
In fact, at least for the beginning, you don't need a special cell (a glass beaker is enough). You have to allow a defined area of your sample (about 1 cm2) to be in contact with the testing solution.
You need a potentiostat, a platinum electrode , a reference electrode and a thermometer. Commonly the software provided with the potentiostat has a special section for corrosion (linear polarisation, Tafel plot), calculating Ecorr [mV], Icorr [A/cm2 ], Rp .
