Resistance spot welds with different Mn contents can be obtained by the resistance spot welding of TWIP steel with other steel (such as TRIP,DP, QP, etc.). How can we confirm the deformation mechanism of spot welds with different Mn contents? It is dislocation slip, twinning, martensitic transformation or the combination of some of them.
I presume that you deform the weld after welding. To learn which deformation mechanism is actual the first thing to do will be making metallographic cross view analysis and learning the type of microstructure formed. It is plausible that high Mn content will result in austenitic microstructure and you will be able to see the deformation bands. Or you may see the martensitic crystals directly. Mechanical twinning is best to observe using transmission electron microscopy.

Thank you for your reply. The spot welds are small buttons with diameters of ~6mm and height of ~3mm. I don't know how to deform such a small weld. Do you have some suggestions about it?

I support the idea of Professor ٍSirgei, you must study the microscopic structure using (SEM or TEM), as well as study the complete feature of RSW for work piece welds, Nugget structure and diameter and ( HAZ).
