Hello together,
I am looking for a way to describe the roll angle between a LEO satellite and a Ground Station antenna.
The ITU has a nice recommendation for calculating the polarization angle based on the G/S position and the LON position of a GEO satellite. However, I am looking for a general approach not limited to geostationary orbits (Rec. ITU-R BO.791, Appendix 1).
Background of this question is a communication link, that only uses linear polarization on both terminals. Therefore, the polarization angle needs to be corrected on one side and I am looking for a way to predict this roll angle - best case depending on the current El/Az of the G/S antenna. (This problem is quite similar to the field rotation for telescopes)
Does anyone have an idea how to analytically describe it?
