In the JCQ, the items are scored on a five-point Likert scale from strongly disagree (score of 1) to strongly agree (score of 4). I read some studies they showed scores on the job demands scale range from 12 to 48, Scores on the job control scale range from 24 to 96. I don't know the formular to calculate these scores. Can every help me?

Yen Nguyen for the job demands instrument, if the item ratings range from 1-4 and the scale ranges from 12-48, then there are 12 items. we know this because the lowest possible score on the 12 items would consist of all items rated with 1's with the highest possible score comprised of all items rated with 4's. This produces the low and high ends of the overall scale. Similar logic can be applied to the job control instrument.
