Hello community, I would like to know the intervals for the RMS calculation. The more I go away from the pulse peak into the noise level, the smaller will be the resulting intervals. I have a limited experience with signal processing.

The rms value of a variable f is defined as mathematically as shown in the attached picture.The pulse function is f(x) defined over the interval (a,b). The variable x could be time, and f could be a piecewise-defined function of voltage, current, etc.
I am familiar with the formula. I just wanted to figure out the right intervals to include my pulse signals. Maybe it is ok to just use the peak value and n=1? That would give the largest RMS. My signals are discrete, it's an output from a scope.
Your question is rather vague. But you could define your function in an arbitrary, piecewise continuous form over the interval of interest. There is no restriction but your (imagination) and assignment. For instance, a pulse with ringing could take the form: n0 + A sin(wt + phi). Another could have a decaying ringing: n0 + exp(-kt)sin(wt + phi), etc. In this case the pulse has a DC level n0 added to it, and the noise could be conveyed in the sinusoidal term, etc. Really, it’s up to you to define your transient pulse.
