i have use this function wspd = sqrt(ua^2+va^2) to display the vertical profil of wind speed at particular point but i got the following massage related to error in NCL script:
"fatal:Plus: Dimension size, for dimension number 2, of operands does not match, can't continue."
I think the function wspd only is not enough for the good result.

When you calculate the wind speed at the rotor of the wind turbine, you need to take the average of the upwind and downwind air velocities. Try that.

I actually want to draw the vertical profile of both wind speed and direction from WRFOUT* using NCL script. But i could not write it.

How many vertical model layers do you have in your wrfout files?
How many frames per out file?
Sorry, I was asking about history_interval and not frames_per_outfile.
But, as both are related, I suspect you have only one time in your wrfout file. Your ncl script has a time loop.
do it = 0,ntimes-1 ;Loop for the time: it= starting time
print("Working on time " + it )
time = it
If that is the case, you need to set the hystory_interval in the way to have more times in your wrfout file
for example :
history_interval 60
frames_per_outfile 24
then you will have 24 times in your wrfout file
