We usually use relative phase, vector coding, Hilbert transformation method to calculate a coordination index (mean or SD) in a coupled unit. But, when the number of segments/joints are more than 2, we usually use PCA and UCM. The PCA only reports the PC score that is not a standard measure to compare among participants. The UCM method reports the variability ratio (segments/ performance) from successive trials and is not able to report a coordination index between the involved elements. Is there any method to calculate coordination index for multi-joint (segment) movements?
