I am working on stimuli-responsive controlled cargo delivery in living cell using surface functionalized mesoporous silica nano particle with Plasmid/ DNA as a pore closing gates. I have synthesized the functionalized MSNPs, and I have met a problem in further step, that is MSNPs are being aggregating while addition of plasmid/DNA to MSNPs for complexation of MSNPs with Plasmid/DNA.
Can anyone suggest how to avoid the aggregation of MSNPs during complexation with DNA and why it is happening.?
Technical information:
I used +Ve charged functionalization to make a complex with -ve charged Plasmid.
using 10:1 w/w, MSNP:plasmid (1mg: 0.1mg in 1mL) solutions.

aggregation of nanoparticle primarily arise because of the electrostatic force of attraction. As you have stated that you have added opposite charges (functionalization and plasmid) it is evident that there is a zeta potential instability. Perhaps protective colloids like gelatin can resolve your technical problem. Good luck!
