1. To what extent are Malaysian EFL undergraduates emotionally engaged in online extensive reading (OER)?

2. Does incidental exposure to online platforms (web-based ER platform and Google Classroom) arouse Malaysian EFL undergraduates’ interest in OER?

3. Does incidental exposure to online platforms (web-based ER platform and Google Classroom) foster a positive attitude towards OER among Malaysian undergraduates?

4. To what extent does emotional engagement mediate the effect of a web-based ER platform and Google Classroom on OER among Malaysian EFL students?

5. To what extent do OER and IR approaches affect Malaysian EFL undergraduates’ emotional engagement in OER after a 17-week instructional period?

When you say you will have two groups, do you mean you will have a control and an experimental group? If that is the case, what will the control group do during the 17-week instructional period?

In case you have two groups as I said, you need them to match in terms of proficiency (EFL undergrads), age, and gender. Importantly, you need to measure their interest, emotional engagement, and attitude toward OER before the instructional period. The control and experimental groups cannot differ in relation to these measures so that you can claim that any change is due to your experimental design.

To control extraneous variables in quasi-experimental design you have to pick up the homogeneous control as well as the experimental group members in terms of linguistic proficiency level ,age ,bilingual/multilingual issues ,to measure their , emotional engagement,interest, and attitude toward OER before the instructional period. As both the groups are similar and after the intervention the result will be a form of testimony that the experimental design has contributed a lot in this changed phenomenon.

I would have to know more about how you are measuring results.
