How to apply DID method with unbalanced panel data?

Hello, everyone!

I am currently working on evaluating a policy based on survey data, and I intend to apply DID method in this project. However, some individuals in my data are not enrolled in some periods, which makes an unbalanced data. I doubt it that my data is so-called "rotating panel data".

My questions are:

(1) Is there any problem to apply DID method on such unbalanced data? (i.e. Directly applying DID method)

(2) If so, how can I cope with this problem?

Could you please provide me with some suggestions or references? Thank you all.
