how to apply a different material on a group elements of global model?
i have a wind turbine blade model (complex model) . I want to model a defect on the blade by reduction of young modulus of a group of elements of the damaged zone. I am using AnsysWrkbench, the problem is that I didn't know how to apply this on this group of item.
1) First, analyze the problem as is
2) Then identify the elements which have failed. for this, u can check the damage contours. Elements which have the damage value of 1 or more are considered to be failed
3) You can select these elements based on results (Not possible in workbench). So you have to use APDL commands for selecting elements based on a results value. The APDL commands of classical Ansys can be inserted into the workbench.
4) Once selected, create a separate component of the failed elements
5) Again using an APDL do loop call each of the element in the failed component one by one and modify /assign a different material property
6) Save the file with a different name and rerun the analysis
