in literature we can find many materials which have good adsorption properties. activated carbon, silica gel, zeolite, MOFs are few of them.
It is better to use natural material for adsorption properties. However , you want higher selectivity then you can use synthetic material .
Off course there are many adsorbents but presenting new adsorbents is still one of the most interesting topics. We are seeking for a cheap material having high thermal conductivity with a relatively high adsorption capacity. Such material will improve the performance of the adsorption systems.
when you start any work ( catalytic/non catalytic), Always think on a Industrial perspective. Your preparation, process, materials, labour,energy etc.. all these cost money. So it is nice to look for a naturally available material first.
